We're building a vibrant community where all ages thrive with strong social bonds, lifelong care, and innovative programmes adding life to years, not just years to life.
Focusing on 6 key areas, we work closely with residents and partners to co-develop solutions and measure their impact, ensuring a supportive and inclusive community.
The Baseline Study is a cornerstone of the Health District @ Queenstown initiative, designed to better understand the needs, challenges, and aspirations of our vibrant community.
Spearheaded by the National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Health System (NUHS), and Housing & Development Board (HDB), Health District @ Queenstown is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together multiple partners from the public, private, and people sectors to create lasting health and social solutions.
Through evidence-based urban planning and community programmes, we help individuals lead active, fulfilling lives, and build a stronger and more resilient Singapore.
We envision Health District @ Queenstown as a thriving community where residents of all ages live healthier, more fulfilling lives — supported by strong social connections, innovative programmes, and access to care in the community throughout one's life. It’s a place where everyone can grow older with dignity, stay connected to what matters, and continue living well in a place they call home.
At Health District @ Queenstown, we empower residents to stay healthy, engaged and connected throughout their lives, within a supportive and inclusive community. By co-creating and co-developing effective, scalable, and sustainable programmes, we aim to:
by leveraging multidisciplinary science to have the years in good health approximate the life span, while taking a life course approach that spans from conception to end-of-life.
including contribution to family and community, as well as engagement through activities such as work, volunteerism, learning and caregiving throughout life. The aim is for residents to not only live longer but to also optimise their full potential during a life well lived.
through the mitigation of ageism and leveraging the complementary skills and qualities of younger and older people.
to be independent and functional for as long as possible, in the company of people and surroundings that are familiar to them so they can age in place.
Since its launch in October 2021, Health District @ Queenstown has focused on six key areas:
By working closely with residents and partners, we co-develop solutions and measure their impact to achieve our key goals of empowering residents to stay healthy, engaged, and connected throughout their lives, within a supportive and inclusive community.
With one-fifth of its residents aged 65 and above and 80% living in HDB flats, Queenstown reflects Singapore’s evolving demographics, making it the ideal place to pioneer new frontiers in health and well-being.
Designed and developed in the 1950s and 1960s as Singapore’s first satellite town, Queenstown has long been a place of firsts — home to the nation’s first public housing skyscraper, first HDB blocks and point blocks, first technical school, first branch library, first polyclinic, first neighbourhood sports complex, first neighbourhood shopping centre, and first flatted factory.
Today, Queenstown continues its legacy of innovation as Singapore’s first health district, where evidence-informed initiatives enable residents to live well at every stage of life.
