We're building a vibrant community where all ages thrive with strong social bonds, lifelong care, and innovative programmes adding life to years, not just years to life.
Focusing on 6 key areas, we work closely with residents and partners to co-develop solutions and measure their impact, ensuring a supportive and inclusive community.
The Baseline Study is a cornerstone of the Health District @ Queenstown initiative, designed to better understand the needs, challenges, and aspirations of our vibrant community.
Inspired by the Ibasho concept — a Japanese term meaning "a place where you can feel like yourself" — this Active Ageing Centre encourages older residents to play an active role in driving community change.
The centre coordinates resources and volunteer efforts within Queenstown, enabling residents to contribute meaningfully to their community.
We believe everyone deserves a safe, comfortable, and dignified place to age, where their life experiences are valued.
Opened on 1 January 2022, the centre was developed with the support of the CapitaLand Hope Foundation and key partners, including Nunchi Marine, Faith Methodist Church, RDC Architects Pte Ltd, Takenaka Corporation, and the Widjaja family.
Ibasho challenges the common view that older persons are only care recipients. Instead, it recognises them as valuable community assets who can take the lead in shaping their environments and redefining ageing.
By fostering purpose and inclusion, the Ibasho approach strengthens community resilience — helping societies adapt to ageing populations and withstand challenges, from natural disasters to social change.
The first Ibasho project was launched in Japan in 2012 after the Great East Japan Earthquake. It featured an elder-led community hub with a café, garden, farmers' market, daycare, and cultural programs.
The model has since expanded to Nepal, the Philippines, and Singapore, where it was introduced in 2022.
Older adults lead and execute activities for themselves and their communities in this pilot centre. They include:
Held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, this community-led tech initiative offers one-on-one help with the use of smartphones, tablets, computers, and apps.
Held on 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month, 77-year-old Wendy Lim leads this gathering where residents come together to knit, embroider and create DIY crafts in a fun, social setting.
An ad-hoc cosy gathering for neighbours to come together to share homemade food or cooking demonstrations, swap family recipes and enjoy warm conversations.
Enjoy classic films and light refreshments while reconnecting with neighbours and sparking intergenerational conversations. Held on last Thursday of each month.
